From: zaman on 7 Apr 2010 02:23 Hi , I am trying to install ipmitool on my Linux box , mostly for learning purpose . The installation went fine . But while trying to load the ipmi_si module , it is failing with the following error . === $ sudo modprobe ipmi_si FATAL: Error inserting ipmi_si (/lib/modules/2.6.31.6/kernel/drivers/ char/ipmi/ipmi_si.ko): No such device [zaman(a)shopdesktop ipmi]$ ls -l /lib/modules/2.6.31.6/kernel/drivers/ char/ipmi/ipmi_si.ko -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 310986 Dec 2 19:19 /lib/modules/2.6.31.6/ kernel/drivers/char/ipmi/ipmi_si.ko === The following is my desktop details === System Information Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard Product Name: HP Compaq dc5800 Microtower Version: Serial Number: SGH827082M === ipmitool , I have installed is ipmitool-1.8.9-1.i386.rpm Any help will be highly appreciated .
