Hi Mark,
=A0
Yes, I'm familiar with the book and=A0once read=A0the chapter=A0called "Con=
joint Analysis."=A0I recall that when I worked through the examples, I coul=
dn't run some of the code (e.g., the %MktEx macro). If memory serves correc=
t, the thing I was lacking was Proc IML.=A0This is why I asked the question=
about needing to buy extra components of the SAS system.=20
=A0
We have something called Sawtooth software here. I'm going to look into usi=
ng this as an alternative to using SAS.

Thanks,

Hello Everyone,

My company is in the process of developing a conjoint analysis of side effe=
cts associated with a particular type of chemotherapy. The analysis will in=
volve an assessment of how much people are willing to pay to avoid or treat=
some side effects and so I believe that it will require the use of "contin=
gent valuation methods."

At this point, I have 4 questions:

1. Am I likely to be right about the choice of method or would I be better =
off adopting some other approach?

2. Can/should I do the sort of analysis that is needed using SAS or would I=
be better off using something like Sawtooth software?

3. If SAS is a good choice for the analysis, will I likely need to purchase=
additional components of the program (e.g., IML) to do the work?

4. What kind of documentation is available to help me learn to do the analy=
sis?

Thanks,

Paul
