From: nkee1229 on 21 Apr 2010 05:11 My goal to consolidate several .PST files so that the Folder List in my Outlook Navigation Pane is less messy (there are too many folders), but I want to ensure that I am saving ALL emails (which I believe are saved by just dragging and dropping from one .PST folder to another .PST folder - please confirm) and ALL Calendars. Specifically, my questions are: 1) Can I consolidate several .PST files? It seems as though I can simply drag emails from one .PST file into another .PST file. Is this accurate? 2) I have a .PST file that is virtually empty. According to the Folder Properties (Folder size…), my .PST only has a calendar saved. How is this possible? I suspect it may have occurred when I exported a Calendar only as ..PST file. Does that seem right? 3) When you AutoArchive, are Calendars and Contacts saved as well? If so, why are they not visible in the Navigation Pane's Folder List under the new ..PST? 4) I have a .PST file that I am trying to close in the Navigation Pane's Folder List, but I get an error saying, "The set of folders could not be opened." So now what do I do? 5) Similarly, I am trying to rename one of my .PST files, but when I go to the folder properties and click "Advanced…" an error message that reads, "Operation failed. An object could not be found." Additionally, I cannot close that .PST file from the Navigation Pane's Folder List. The same error message appears. I have read virtually ALL pertinent OfficeOnline How-to traning sessions and articles and I desperately hope you can help! Thank you!!!

From: nkee1229 on 21 Apr 2010 18:34 Roady, Thank you so VERY MUCH for taking the time to answer my post. I appreciate it. Here are my follow-up questions: 2) So how do I keep/save just the Calendar (add it to another pre-existing ..PST) so that I can delete this virtually empty .PST file? ie. How can I consolidate a Calendar ONLY .PST file with an existing .PST file containing emails? 3) So you are saying the Calendar ought to auto-populate/be visible in the Calendar view, once I open up this .PST? Similarly, the Contacts ought to auto-populate in the Contacts view? 6) How can I consolidate a Contacts ONLY .PST file with an existing .PST file containing emails? 7) In C:\Documents and Settings\(user name)\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook, what creates the default .PST file "outlook"? 8) To clarify, .PST files CAN contain emails AND calendars AND contacts, all in the same .PST file? I just need to make sure there are folders created for the Contacts, then I just drag and drop?
From: nkee1229 on 22 Apr 2010 20:21 Roady, I did some experimenting and have taken care of everything. The ghostbuster add-in worked wonders on my two files in question, HOWEVER, when I started opening/consolidating more .PST files, three more ghosts appeared and here's THE CATCH: The new ghost folders do not have names, so the plugin cannot find them!!! When, I right-click on the folder, a menu option for "Close " <0w#25>"" is available, but when I click on it, I get the error message, "You cannot close the mailbox that containts your calendar, contacts, and inbox." The thing is: this is NOT the main mailbox that contains the aforementioned items (which are stored on my server). Secondly, when I try to expand those folders to see what's inside, I get the error message, "Unable to expand the folder. The set of folders could not be opened. Show help >> (button)" What now?
