Our XP machines are taking 5-6 minutes from startup to login. All
hang at "Applying computer settings".
Reading the group, I feel it is a DNS problem but have been unable to
recify it. When i unplug the network cable, boot to logon is about 1
minute.
I have tried on new machines, drop and rejoined to domain with no
success.

I have enabled userenv loggong and noted the following errors with
considerable delays
"GetUserDNSDomainName: Domain name is NT Authority. No DNS domain
name available."
.......
......
"USERENV(274.294) 12:40:53:188 ImpersonateUser: Failed to impersonate
user with 5.
USERENV(274.294) 12:40:53:188 GetUserNameAndDomain Failed to
impersonate user"

Seems like a DNS issue but i'm unable to move further. ipconfig
settings from client and DC below. Appreciate any help i can get.

Have you tried checking DNS from the command prompt after the machine boots
up? Have you looked in the event log for errors?

Although this *could* be a DNS issue, it could also be myriad of other
issues related to authentication against the DC or applying group policies.
Almost all of these problems will generate errors in the event viewer
without forcing you to dig into the userenv logs.

Is the server having 2 nics? Then that is wrong, because they are both in
the same subnet and that won't work.

Hi,

Did you rerun CEICW after disabling that second nic? Download the SBS BPA
