I’m trying to figure out what we should do about creating an offsite
copy of the media which holds our company’s software. The cds for
application software.

Is it legal to make iso's and backup to tape? What do other companies
do relating to this topic?

Hello techstress,

The licensing you use is important and not the media itself. So make sure
you have all needed licenses to be safe. From TechNet or MSDN you can download
only .iso files for burning them to disc and have to use the license key
acccording to the EULA/contract you have.
