It is primarily a matter of the drive. The software should take care of it as
well and communicate the region and the changes left to the user. There were
drive firmware versions that left it up to the software to handle the region
codes. But these have been rare cases.

Fairmount USES VLC, so I'm quite doubtful that the combination will
