Has anyone run into a problem where the DVDRom will mount and play CDs,
DVD video but doesn't seem to mount DVD data disks.

I haven't done strict tests to rule out whether the DVDRom just has
trouble with DVD-+R/RW. It does mount and play retail DVDs and data CDs.

Yes, I have. Though when I published the problem here, I didn't get any
advice other than submit a bug report.
