From: Binsey on 7 Oct 2006 04:01 Hi, I have recently upgrades from Windows 2000 to Xp and have had to re-install DW. Now, whenever I start DW, I get this error message: 'The following javascript error(s) occured: At line 56 of file "C:\programfiles\macromedia\dreamweaver 8\configuration\shared\common\scripts\dwscriptextdata.js' ReferenceError: DWScripts is not defined' I notice also, that while inserting FW HTML with pop-up menus, I get three buttons on the left after navigating to the file, that all say 'alt' - didn't have this before. I have Java on my machine.... Any ideas? TIA

You really should not ever use FW HTML with pop-up menus. They lead you down long, dark, twisty alleys. > I have Java on my machine.... From: Deaf Web Designer on 7 Oct 2006 20:34 It is common misunderstood or myth that Java is just like Javascript. It is totally different meaning. Java is applet while JavaScript is a script program.
From: Murray *ACE* on 8 Oct 2006 09:20 Not at all. The new participant in this world has seen both terms used, has no understanding of what either means, or the difference between them, and simply confuses them. There is no myth.... And Java is not an applet - it is a full-blown programming language. -- Murray --- ICQ 71997575 Adobe Community Expert (If you *MUST* email me, don't LAUGH when you do so!) ================== http://www.dreamweavermx-templates.com - Template Triage! http://www.projectseven.com/go - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources http://www.dwfaq.com - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources http://www.macromedia.com/support/search/ - Macromedia (MM) Technotes ================== "Deaf Web Designer" <webforumsuser(a)macromedia.com> wrote in message news:eg9h2s$5gf$1(a)forums.macromedia.com... > It is common misunderstood or myth that Java is just like Javascript. Hi Murray, Four things really. Firstly, thank you for the java(script) fix. It has worked. Secondly, we have had this conversation before but I have had perfectly satisfactory results with the pop-up menus. What do you suggest? PVII and pay for them? And for those of us with little money? I am a point and click merchant, for your guide, and coding is of no interest to me whatsoever. Thirdly, I get the distinct feeling from your posts that you think you are the all powerful DW/Macromedia Guru. Please don't take offence but there are some of us that are not blessed with the knowledge that you seem to have (perhaps us 'new participants') Fourthly, I now have lost the ability to save FTP usernames and passwords in DW under XP. Does this also have something to do with the java(script) abberation? TIA |
