Yes, I think it was same year the Write-Only memory was developed in
1972.

"Write Only Memory
In 1972 Signetics recognized April Fools day by printing a full color
datasheet for a Write-Only Memory. This is a chip which accepts data
but never reads it back. Suggested uses include a data logger for
bombs. Graphs show "number of pins left versus number of insertions"
and other useful data. A couple of pins are dedicated to 6.3 volt AC
input... for the filaments, of course!"

The first time I heard about it was when I was a freshman in collage,
1977

Kinda like that Wedding ring I tried to give my first wife, I had the
jeweler mount a lump of coal in the wedding band, and when asked, I told my
wife-to-be, "Made out of the same stuff, just looks a little different".
She didn't like it either

I much prefer the FED - Flame Emitting Diode that was showcased in the
April edition of EDN magazine sometime in the mid-80's.
