From: Kalico on 18 May 2010 18:28 Anyone know if there are any PAYG data offers in Greece? Last year, they only offered them on contract, but things could have changed. Thanks

There are, but you have to mess about with bundles and (possibly) pretending you're using WAP. Have a read of this thread: http://www.prepaidgsm.net/forum/europe/2835-greece-hspa-prepaid-postpaid-offers.html Note that SIMs now need to be registered, so you'll have to take your passport to a shop to buy one. That very interesting thread is 2-3 years old now. Did you read right to the end? That has all the latest tariffs. This post, from March, gives a more recent outline of the situation: http://www.prepaidgsm.net/forum/europe/2835-greece-hspa-prepaid-postpaid-offers-8.html#post31607 Last time I was forced to buy data in 40MB chunks and pretend to use WAP. It looks like things have liberalised quite a bit now. FWIW my impression is that COSMOTE gets the best 2G signal, though I have no experience with 3G (out of the cities I didn't find any 3G on any network. It's probably improved now) Theo

Still have to travel and prove the theory but according to the seller when you put the SIM in and configure the APN it takes you to a landing page where you put the code in from a supplied scratchcard to activate. AIUI they have imposed activation restrictions on voice SIM cards which need you in person with some form of ID. But these cards have no voice ability so escape this restriction. Dave
