This entire topic could be put to rest of the Cliff would just post a profile. Photobucket is free, easy, and takes literally a few seconds to start an account and post an image.

The actual tool path, the tool path in the machine driven by the program turning an actual part is !!! EXACTLY !!! the same for both methods. Look at the simple radius Cliff tried to program (where he produced error riddled G-Code), had Cliff been able to produce error free code his machine tool path is EXACTLY the same as Dan and Tom's. The ONLY difference between the two methods is when using/running Cliffs program (programming method) at setup it requires more calculations and more data input from the shop floor which increases opportunities for errors to creep into the process. Now Cliff will say it only works on simple parts and profiles, Dan, Tom and others here disagree. So to prove his point, all Cliff needs to do is describe a profile, sketch it or draw it up and post it so we can have a go at programming (G-Coding) it and post the results here publicly. Cliff can do the same thing, using his profile, his method and post his G-Code here publicly as well. We post our and they are up for peer review, questions and comments. Can't get much more one sided for Cliff than that, we are allowing him to design and answer his own test.

Dan was using WSP last I knew. Hence his posts about entering the TNR & a vector identifier. He may just not know that he's using WSP & letting the control "hide" it from him. WSP will work. Programming to the empty spot out in the air where the touch-off dimensions would intersect only works under rather limited conditions for simple parts ... which is what Tom is doing. PLUS he has to edit a lot of lines of code to "adjust" it. Pretty funny, the yonnie (bunko) bonkers & Tom Hack-N-Whack stuff. It's no wonder anymore that Tom has his operators editing his code all the time & claims to allow for it. He should hire bonkers <VBG>. -- Cliff |
