I have to wait till ipv6 times out and then it falls backs to ipv4.

Are you able to contact other ipv6 sites?

Try "ping6 ipv6.google.com" for example.
Then try "traceroute6 ipv6.google.com".

If both of those work, try "traceroute6 ftp.au.debian.org" and see
what it says. From the output, you may be able to figure out where
the lossage is. If you do, that will give you a clue as to whom to
contact to get it fixed.

Enjoy!

I can ping6 to ipv6 and to other ipv6 sites, what seems to stall is the

well isn't that an issue, why provide ipv6 name resolution to a server
if it is not going to provide that service :)
