Is this Word 2007? If so, in Word Options, Trust Center, Privacy Options, you can remove the check next to "Make hidden markup visible when opening or saving". Note that this will affect only what YOU see--not what others see when they open a file containing tracked changes. This is the default setting because people frequently forget that a document still contains tracked changes and that others can see those changes. Sometimes the result is awkward, other times embarrassing, and other times career-ending. If you turn this off, keep in mind that it's really there for your own protection so that you're fully aware of what's in your document before sharing it with others. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word Bible Blog: http://word.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "Mgruen2" <Mgruen2(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:A4AEBF05-71A3-45DC-9315-081F9F70D9AF(a)microsoft.com... > Hi, When I open an existing document, the default setting goes to "review > final showing markup". is there a way to chnage this to a different > setting? > And if so, how? |
