If you had the foresight to enable automatic creation of back-up files on save then yes, you probably can get back (most) of a deleted file. Otherwise you are in very dodgy territory. Shift Delete is specifically intended to _not_ keep files you delete. You may not have dropped it in the shredder, but getting anything back isn't going to be easy. There are third party tools that attempt to recover deleted files from your disk. It is essential that you do as little as possible with your computer until you've got such a tool! The more you use it, the likelier you are to overwrite it and permanently lose the possibility of recovery. You can also give your computer / hard disk to a professional to try to recover it. Expect to pay 'professional' rates. It's also just possible that there will be something (autorecovery info) hanging around but I think that usually only happens if Word is shut-down unnaturally (e.g. computer crash, power-off without closing it).
