From: Peter James on 28 Jul 2010 04:42 A friend has accidently deleted his download folder on his G5 iMac using OS X 10.4.11. Will downloading a file cause the OS to re-install a download folder or does he need to do it from the original disks. Thanks for any replies, Peter -- He spoke with a certain what-is-it in his voice, and I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled. P.G. Wodehouse 1881 -1975

That was a new feature in 10.5. Each web browser can be configured to download to a particular folder. If you deleted the folder it was configured to use (and emptied trash), it might revert to the default setting (download to the desktop) or it might create the folder again. If in doubt, create the folder yourself, and go into the preferences for the web browser to confirm the correct folder is selected. -- David Empson dempson(a)actrix.gen.nz
