From: dflint on 3 Jun 2010 14:19 Here's what we did: Demoted the last DC controller in one of our domains. As expected the domain now no longer exists. Added the server, as a member server, to another domain. Logged in as domain admin. We can browse to any server or folder within the domain. The problem: When we to open, or execute any file we receive this message: Windows cannot access the spefified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access this item. Of course I can log on as domain admin to any other member server within this domain and access these same files without a problem. We've checked DNS, removed and rejoined the server to the domain with no luck. -- dflint ------------------------------------------------------------------------ dflint's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/171849.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/windows-server-help/1343360.htm http://forums.techarena.in

From: dflint on 9 Jun 2010 13:58 Article Q313222 deals with restoring security settings in XP and Vista. My problem is with a 2003 Server. Since I'm about to give up and reload this machine anyway I did try it with no success. What's odd is everything runs fine from a command prompt. The same programs, from the GUI,, do not. -- dflint ------------------------------------------------------------------------ dflint's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/171849.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/windows-server-help/1343360.htm http://forums.techarena.in
