From: Diane Poremsky [MVP] on 10 Nov 2009 16:38 Right, I didn't think it would since its not mentioned in the list of things it fixes. AFAIK, it hasn't been fixed yet. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com/ Outlook Tips by email: mailto:dailytips-subscribe-request(a)lists.outlooktips.net EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: mailto:EMO-NEWSLETTER-SUBSCRIBE-REQUEST(a)PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM Poll: What version of Outlook do you use? http://forums.slipstick.com/showthread.php?t=27072 "Manlio" <noemail(a)news.org> wrote in message news:nlejf5pvpmn3phav1nnhmgn4ccg905v6c3(a)4ax.com... > Followup to msg on Tue, 10 Nov 2009 12:10:39 -0500, "Diane Poremsky > [MVP]" <outlookmvp(a)msn.com> : > (Original msg on bottom) > > Unfortunately I could not install the hotfix for KB974994 as I got an > error message. About what I did to hunt the failure ... I am unable to rebuild the many attempts I made. Nevertheless I may say that when I have the Desktop alerts not working, then if I close Outlook 2007 Its icon remains for long time indication the closing has been locked by something. Then to close definitely Outlook I have to launch it again (despite the previous closing is on its run) and then again close the program, that is immediate. Don't forget I have practically no addins or other programs interfering with Outlook, according to published lists. When I test the desktop alerts during the lock closing phase, they don't work. After having regained the fast closing of Outlook, if I test the desktop alerts they work perfectly. For the above I argued then there is a relation between the closing and the desktop alerts. Hope it's enough clear ... :-)) Manlio >"Manlio" <noemail(a)news.org> wrote in message >news:iciif5dttql828f6dekc4rh3g1jk9fe0f4(a)4ax.com... > >>I have been hunting from long time to find at least what is causing >> the desktop alerts stop working. >> Recently I reached the conclusion that this problem arise together >> with the inability of Outlook to close quickly. > >What version of Outlook and what mail account type? Sorrt, but no. I looked back through the thread. You've posted exactly two messages in this thread and neither contains the Outlook version. > About what I did to hunt the failure ... You still didn't state the account type. See this for ways to diagnose why Outlook doesn't close: http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/outlookdoesntclose.htm -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]
