From: Happy Oyster on 21 Mar 2010 23:48 Hi, there are some strange differences between the versions 10.3 (single core 32 bit) and 11.1 (single core 32 bit) and 11.2 (double core, 64 bit) concerning usage of USB connections and umtsmon. Installation of umtsmon on 10.3 (single core 32 bit) is a childs play. Installation of umtsmon on 11.1 (single core 32 bit) is a bit strange, but works. Installation of umtsmon on 11.2 (double core, 64 bit) is hopeless. What is there so special with the latter one? Then YaST > Security and Users > User and Group Management > Users > Edit > Details > Additional Groups. There tick dialout and uucp for the user. The user must then log out and back in for the changes. 3. start umtsmon, stick in Huawei, let it initialize. 4. Create profile with the normal stuff as for ISP details. 5. Connect. This works for me both with the 64bit and the 32bit version of OS 11.2. -- Hendrik van Hees Institut fr Theoretische Physik Justus-Liebig-Universitt Gieen http://theorie.physik.uni-giessen.de/~hees/
