From: Dan V on 6 Apr 2010 10:59 I have a customer who has a Dell 2003 Small Business Server and they dont need Exchange or Sharepoing or WSUS, The system right now is using around 2GB and only has 1GB of Ram Can i just go in the services and disable all the MS Exchange, SQL, and WSUS, services? Will this cause any issues?

Can't an extra GB or two of RAM be added and keep the SBS server working the way it should. Sounds like the customer isn't getting the value in return for his investment. -- /kj

Will this cause any issues? 1GB RAM is completely out of line. A SBS 2003 Standard (without SQL) server should have 3GB as a base memory. You should upgrade to 4GB RAM, it's cheap, and since it's a Dell you can get it cheap from many sources. The good thing about buying RAM instead of disabling and breaking SBS is that it's going to be a LOT cheap to add RAM than it is to break the server. DO NOT DISABLE THEM, BUY MORE MEMORY. -- You can't trust your best friends, your five senses, only the little voice inside you that most civilians don't even hear -- Listen to that. From: Phillip Windell on 6 Apr 2010 13:18 If you aren't going to use something,...then properly remove it with the Installations Wizards. Adding more RAM as the others said would be great,...disabling the services would be bad,....either use them or remove them,...it's that simple. The SBS Installations Wizards must be used for any product components that are "part of" SBS. Anything else added separately must be uninstalled separately. -- Phillip Windell The views expressed, are my own and not those of my employer, or Microsoft, or anyone else associated with me, including my cats. ----------------------------------------------------- "Dan V" <dvalenti54athotmail.com> wrote in message news:e0mTymZ1KHA.5972(a)TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... >I have a customer who has a Dell 2003 Small Business Server and they dont >need Exchange or Sharepoing or WSUS, The system right now is using around >2GB and only has 1GB of Ram Can i just go in the services and disable all >the MS Exchange, SQL, and WSUS, services?
