I am using Snow Leopard, and the following odd behaviour has persisted
through several versions of 10.6.

When I enter a search term the top hit appears and a list of
applications, as it should. But, too quickly for me to do anything about
it, all the applications disappear except the top hit. It's very
annoying, and I wondr How I can ensure that all the relevant
applications remain shown.
