There appears to be a problem searching a mapped drive in Windows XP.

If, for example, you have drive Z mapped to //network-location/data , instead of right clicking the Z drive and "search", click START --> run and type in //network-location and OK.

You should see "data" as a folder. Right-click that, and do your search.

Can't search a remote network drive

When using Start, Search, For Files and Folders in Windows XP SP2, if the
search is performed on a network drive that is across a wide area network,
the search comes up empty. Is there a setting to enable searching of files
on network shares that are across a WAN?

Thanks!
