From: Jamout2000 on 9 Aug 2010 10:14 So I bought their program. Took me all weekend with dial-up connection, but I still have 18 missing, they say. Why? I have a dell, running xp home, I bought it used from a computer store, never got the dvd or media player to work, said "I needed drivers," somewhere?? at sometime?? Before I did that, my friend said, "here try this dvd, I know it works", and he put it in for me. It's a HP DvD-writer!! Well whatever he did or I did, (driver downloads that come with compressed files, that won't stay open) is really messing things up. Primary drive 1 not found Secondary drive 1 not found F1- continue F2- set up utility Now this a.m. http: Error 12007 name of address could not be found FTP Passive Error 12037 certificate is invalid or expired Then it connected me. Help! No expert here!

Help! No expert here! NEVER use these "driver finder" or "driver detective" programs. They cost you money to download drivers that are available for free from the computer maker's website. Also, they are notorious for downloading obsolete or flat out wrong drivers as you have found out. You've got such a mess now, it will be much easier to go to the Dell website and download the drivers for your machine and save them to a flash drive or burn to CD. Then reformat the hard drive, reinstall Windows and use the drivers that are correct for your machine. It'll be a lot easier to do this than it will be to straighten out the mess that you've got.
