Hi,

We have a Windows 2008 SP1 64bit Server running Terminal Services. We were
using Easy Print but some of our remote users found it a bit slow when they
had to select a Printer from their Printer List and/or waiting for the print
job to clear from their application (i.e. word). I was thinking about
installing the Printer Drivers on the TS server as it greatly improved this
issue when I tested it with installing one printer driver (and changing the
Group Policy setting so Easy Print is ignored if a suitable driver exists)
Has anyone had any experience with installing OKI or Brother printer drivers
on a TS Server? I have used Thinprint on Windows 2003 TS Servers in the past
but we would find this expensive for the small amount of Printers and users
we support.

thanks.

I have not used Thinprint so I cannot help you there.

I would not doubt that your printing is slow because the print jobs are
very large when using Easy Print. That was my experience anyways.
A normal 16K PCL job would turn into 1.2MB using the Easy Print driver.

Installing the 32-bit driver on 64-Bit TS server will not work. They
will not match up. Also based on experience.

I have found that if you setup printer mapping file using an
NTPrintSubs.inf file, it will be much easier to print and then not
use the Easy Print Driver.
