I don't use this but maybe someone, somewhere wants y.a. editor...
Although the site says it's for Linux, the developer has posted
elsewhere that it's been tested successfully on XP.

Egads!
Now, in the midst of this vast herd of what are really
programmers' editors, how does one manage to find programs that
are truly suited for text work: handle well, print with decent
control, etc.?

Susan, you were very helpful last time I was pulling my hair out
in this pursuit. WordTabs is now a virtual antique and
long-unsupported (but still great under XP).

<vbg> Vast herd is right. They do offer some help re making a selection.
<http://texteditors.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?PickingATextEditor>
links to meore pages - for example:
<http://texteditors.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?EasiestOnTheHands>
"* EasiestOnTheHands - a new strategy which attempts to minimize carpal
tunnel"

and they group the editors into trees on this web page:
<http://texteditors.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?TextEditorFamilies>
for example:
<http://texteditors.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?XMLEditorFamily>
XMLEditorFamily - Text editors for creating XML documents
