From: Sridhar Mahadevan on 24 May 2010 08:54 Can anyone tell me how to turn on Emacs key bindings in the MATLAB editor in R2010a? For some reason, this release disables the menu options that have been always available in previous releases. There is a partial fix to restore emacs key bindings on the command line argument, but that does not cover the MATLAB editor. If someone in Mathworks is listening, can we get this option restored please in future releases?

Are you sure? http://blogs.mathworks.com/desktop/2009/09/28/configurable-keyboard-shortcuts-have-arrived/ On both Windows and UNIX, Emacs Default Set is listed as an option in the Keyboard preference in the documentation: http://www.mathworks.com/access/helpdesk/help/techdoc/matlab_env/br9elah.html If you're using a Mac, then quoting from the blog posting I linked to above: "The Windows and Emacs sets are both available on non-Macintosh platforms, but the Macintosh Default Set is only available on Macintosh due to the usage of the Command key. In addition to our new default sets, we also ship a set representing the default keyboard shortcuts in R2009a, specific to the platform on which you are running." > If someone in Mathworks is listening, can we get this option restored > please in future releases? Yes, on my Mac laptop or desktop, enabling the 2009a key bindings does not restore the Emacs key bindings in the MATLAB editor. Since this option is now disabled in the menus, I see no obvious way to restore Emacs key bindings (short of using an Emacs editor, which I don't want to do since I prefer using the MATLAB editor). > > http://blogs.mathworks.com/desktop/2009/09/28/configurable-keyboard-shortcuts-have-arrived/ > > On both Windows and UNIX, Emacs Default Set is listed as an option in the > Keyboard preference in the documentation: > > http://www.mathworks.com/access/helpdesk/help/techdoc/matlab_env/br9elah.html > > If you're using a Mac, then quoting from the blog posting I linked to above: > > "The Windows and Emacs sets are both available on non-Macintosh platforms, > but the Macintosh Default Set is only available on Macintosh due to the > usage of the Command key.
