If I understand you correctly, the forum format no longer exists. It's been
replaced by a dialogue box at Microsoft Answers that permits you to submit a
question. The question is seen only by a microsoft support person, and
answered by him. Does that state the situation?

MS started discontinuing newsgroup hosting at msnews.microsoft.com June
1. They haven't discontinued all the groups yet. The XP group is still
working with the MS server. I am getting a sharepoint newsgroup through
AIOE, but the message count has dwindled considerably since earlier this
month.

Others have suggested where to go to get MS answers, as noted above.

The forum format exists at Microsoft Answers. The thing you called a
forum, was never a forum but only a front end for the newsgroups. Any
question you post at Answers is seen by every one, and may never be
answered. It works similar to what you thought was a forum. Why don't
you just go there and look? It would save a lot of confusion.
