From: C RAMSEY on 10 Feb 2010 11:29 We are looking to configure an environment that uses SQL Server 2008 Report Services and a majority of the team would like to use Report Builder 2.0. Howerver, some members have would like to use only Report Builder 1.0. Is there a defined end of support date for Report Builder 1.0? Is there any known issues with using Report Builder 1.0 in an enviroment where the models are built using BIDS 2008 and most reports will be written using Report Builder 2.0.
From: Andrew Karcher [SQL] on 12 Feb 2010 13:48 I have not tried this in my environments, but you have to remember that Report Builder like Visual Studio (although this changes slightly with 2008 and 2008 R2) targets a specific SSRS version and features. It also targets a specific version of the RDL specification. So you probably will not be able to open a 2008 report with Report Builder 1.0. I would be very surprised if you could. If all your reports are in 2008 then you should move your users to Report Builder 2.0. I know the integration with models is a bit better in 1.0, but you have to keep them moving forward.
