Error code 646 on Office 2007 seciurity updates.

Few fixes like Disabling UAC on vista and installing the updates manually is a workaround solutions which surely defeat the purpose of the feature AUTOMATIC UPDATES in Windows OS. However, digging down the grave, this is a resolution i came across. Error 646 in vista.. windows updates is trying to locate the location of a folder to load the updates prior to install. %APPDATA% Here is the permanent solution. 1: Open registry editor 2. Go to the location Navigate to the following registry keys HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders The correct and default value for AppData should be: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming If not then change it. Then try windows update.. Cheers |
