We facing a problem with our environment, the problem is if any user who has
active RDP session into the server gives the restart some times (70% restarts
have the same fate) what happens that terminal services don't respond next
time we try to RDP into it..serevr will reboot fine but terminal services
won't respond..

Then we have to manually login into the console and issue a reboot and once
server comes up everthing works fine.. this problem has been persisting for
quite a while now.. over a year.. and we have no answer to it..except reboot
the server and it is happening with the NON Ts servers enable in remote
administartion mode..

Do you feel that Tsshutdn /restart can help us in resolving the issue..?

Secondly what's the difference between tsshuddn command and normal
shutdown/Restart..?

Thoughts?

If you are experiencing reliability issues with your servers, you can
followup with Microsoft Product Support Services to report the issue
so that we have a consistent reproducable scenario.

TSshutdn offers more options that the start menu shut down command.

That was not the answer I was looking for.

I just asked is there any difference between how tsshutdn works and how
shutdown command works on NON Ts servers

Thanks,

tsshutdn.exe and shutdown.exe are quite similar. The message displayed
to logged on users is slightly different and shutdown.exe offers more
options.

Just use the tool that best fits your needs

I hope this helps.
