From: DY on 1 May 2007 13:14 I am trying to delete some cache files located on my fileserver. When I try to delete them an error comes up "Cannot delete file: It is being used by another person or program." I did some searching and ran both the sysinternals applications ProcessExplorer and Handle. ProcessExplorer didn't tell me much, but Handle said the file is being used by "System". I cannot just kill this process without taking down the server. I know for a fact rebooting the machine DOES fix the problem, however this incurrs downtime which I want to avoid. Is there a way to release the lock on these files without restarting or killing the process? Thanks in advance!
From: Anthony on 2 May 2007 09:00 You can try removing all the ACL entries except your own. -- Anthony http://www.airdesk.co.uk "DY" wrote: > I am trying to delete some cache files located on my fileserver. From: DY on 2 May 2007 10:04 Good idea, but unfortunately it did not work. I could remove all listing except my own but it didn't give up the lock onthe file.
