How did you go about installing Office 2007? Describe the computer your tried the installation on. Did you get any error messages during the installation? Quote the entire pop-up message, exactly. Sure it does ... the OP will get all the functionality of the M$ product (and then some) without the ambiguous "installation problems" that were stated. If there is any problem due to "system configuration" then OO will give a very clear statement of what the problem is, and how to fix it.
