I am getting this error when we try to grow a logfile.

FCB::ZeroFile(), GetOverLappedResult(): Operating system error 27(The
drive cannot find the sector requested.) encountered.


SQL 2008 Enterprise 64 bit SP1
Windows 2008 R2 64 bit fully patched.

Latest firmware and drivers for HP EVA 6400 San, 4 8GB QLogic HBAs

This is an OS message that most likely indicates a problem with the
disc see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms837481.aspx

As this is the SAN I would contact the SAN vendor as it looks like it
may not be configured correctly.

Thanks. We will be trying to reformat the drive this coming weekend
and see what happens. I have my SAN admin looking into it as well.

Hi David

Have your tired chkdsk?

I would look into things like SAN cache etc.
