OTTAWA — A diagnosed pedophile who admitted to sexually assaulting two
young girls has been sentenced to two years in jail and declared a
long-term offender.

Stephane Durocher, 37, pleaded guilty in May to two counts of sexual
assault and sexual interference for touching the two girls, aged 14 and
under, in 2001.

Durocher, who was convicted last June of possessing child pornography,
had been convicted in 1993 of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl as
well as a woman on a bike path.

He also has a 1995 conviction for breaking into a house and masturbating
before stealing pornographic videos and magazines.

As a long-term offender, Durocher will be subject to strict supervision
conditions for 10 years upon the completion of his sentence.
