From: Jon Fleming on 24 Nov 2009 11:57 I keep getting event 1040 "The average of the most recent [306] heartbeat intervals is less than or equal to [540].". I'm running Exchange Server 2007 SP1 in Small Business Server 2008 standard. Windows Firewall is on at the server, and I have a Fortigate 50B router. I've read Enterprise firewall configuration for Exchange ActiveSync Direct Push Technology (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905013) and none of it seems applicable. It's just an annoyance, but how do I get rid of this stupid warning?
From: Ed Crowley [MVP] on 25 Nov 2009 02:13 When you quote an event log entry you should post the entire entry. The handy-dandy copy-to-clipboard button in the event detail should help you with that. -- Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems." .. Make sure that your firewall configuration is set to work correctly with Exchange ActiveSync and Direct Push technology. Specifically, make sure that your firewall is configured so that requests to Exchange ActiveSync do not expire before they have the opportunity to be processed.
