From: LDoyle on 13 Sep 2006 11:12 I have a Windows Storage Server 2003 that is asking to activate Windows (which was done over a year ago). The event log error is: Event ID: 1000 An error occurred while the wizard was checking the current Windows product license. Error Code: 8: 0x8004b039 I have done the following to try to remedy this, but with no luck: * Checked permissions on wpa.dll * Ran regsvr32.exe regwizc.dll and licdll.dll * Replaced OEMBIOS.BIN from another working system * Threatened to drop the server from a tall building if it didn't stop this nonsense There haven't been any hardware changes. When trying to activate, I cannot do so over the INternet because it reports the activation period has expired. Clicking Activation via Telephone does not pull up an Installation ID. I tried to change the product key by entering the COA, but the Installation ID still does not appear. I am able to boot in Safe Mode. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You may consider selecting bootlog option and evaluate last entries. From: LDoyle on 13 Sep 2006 16:36 Thanks for the suggestion. The server boots fine. We're able to get to files on it. The only problem is accessing it using the console or terminal service; the WPA won't go away.
