From: borninpa on 4 Mar 2010 11:23 The following procedure causes Excel to hang. We have tested on XP and Windows 7 (x32 and x64) machines. It does it with SP1 or SP2: 1. Open Excel and select Format\Protect Sheet 2. Select Locked Cells, Select Unlocked Cells, Insert Hyperlinks 3 While protected, right click on the icon in the upper left corner next to the A and above the 1 (the select all button... but you have to right click on it). This will cause Excel to hang. Any suggestions... seems like a bug.
From: Mike H on 4 Mar 2010 11:40 Hm, I tested this on E2003 and all is fine but as you say on E2007 the application locks up with the processor running flat out. I also tested it on E2010 and that hangs too. It will be interesting to hear the thoughts of others who may have an insight as to what is going on in 2007 & 2010 -- Mike When competing hypotheses are otherwise equal, adopt the hypothesis that introduces the fewest assumptions while still sufficiently answering the question. From: Mike H on 4 Mar 2010 19:21 Ron, I think 50% of CPU is actually flat out on a dual core procesor system. -- Mike When competing hypotheses are otherwise equal, adopt the hypothesis that introduces the fewest assumptions while still sufficiently answering the question.
