I have commercial Elcomsoft Advanced Password Recovery v4.03. It's
very good but may take awhile if password is too complex. Things like
length and char type may help a lot.

I found a freebie at http://wareseeker.com/download/easy-excel-
password-recovery-free-5.2.rar/4170b1dab but have to advise I never
used it.

I'll download Petri's tool for evaluation. Looks serious stuff.

May be OT, but I have Word 2000 files and forget the simple password. Any
freeware tools suggestions?

Thanks,
Dugie

Please post the VBS script. I'll check out that reference too as well. Thank
you.
