Hi All

Exchange newbie, please take it easy :-)

We originally used Dist Groups to handle mail forwarded from various domain
names we own. The domain host is configured to forward onto our Exchange
server and then onward to internal staff using Distribution Groups. However
users do NOT want to disable Out of Office for all externals, just for those
that have derived from these domain names.

For example:

External user (A) sends email to info(a)newdomain.org

this is forwarded to exchange server mail account at
info.newdomain.org(a)ourdomain.org

this by DG is then dispatched to a selection of internals.

But, if only one of the recipients has an auto reply enabled, then the
original sender thinks info(a)newdomain.org is not available - not good!

-------------
Poss Solution 1:

Create an individual email account for info.newdomain.org(a)ourdomain.org and
add to each of the recipients email accounts. But this takes AGES as we need
to remotely connect to each users' Outlook and add it manually.

Poss Solution 2:

Can we use Hubtransport rules?

1. Tag the incoming mail - on emails arriving at
info.newdomain.org(a)domain.org by adding the original domain name text '
info(a)newdomain.org ' into the subject line.

This would provide a simple mechanism to inform internal clients where the
mail originated and to possibly allow a rule to evaluate this on all Out of
Office replies?

2. Add hub transport rule to detect auto replies from being returned to
senders with 'info(a)newdomain.org' in the subject name?

But bet there is a far better way and so would appreciate any input.

Cheers
Lea

Have I completely confused everyone - sorry..

Does this need rephrasing or am I asking the impossible here?

Any pointers much appreciated.
