From: Richard K on 13 May 2010 04:35 SBS2008 OK I ran the SBS2008 BPA and it reports that Exchange 2007 SP2 is not installed. I do a little more research and see a tool that Microsoft has put out to help install SP2 on an SBS2008 server. I download the SP2 and the tool and start to run. When the SP2 installation starts it errors out saying that a "reboot from a previous installation is pending. Please restart the system and rerun setup". I go ahead and restart the server. When I go and start the process again I get the same error. I've obviously rebooted so that didn't fix it. After a little more digging I came across another article about a registry key adjustment but when I look at my registry under hklm\software\microsoft\updates I see Exchange 2007\SP2. SP2? There are 2 entries under that key for KB970162 (Rollup 9) and KB981407 (Rollup 10). What am I missing here? Why is there a key for Exchange 2007\SP2 and according to the BPA it is not installed? When I go into the Exchange 2007 console/help about I see version 08.01.0436.000 Thanks! -Richard K

From: Cliff Galiher - MVP on 13 May 2010 06:50 Trust the version number you are seeing under properties. If windows is insisting that there is a pending reboot even after you've rebooted, it means an installer didn't clean up after itself in the registry. Follow the technet article to resolve that. As far as SP2 you are seeing in the registry, ignore it. Installers create and adjust registry keys all the time as they move data around. The Exchange SP2 installer will check actual DLL versions, so what you are seeing will not interfere with the installation. -Cliff "Richard K" <rkokoski(a)foxdtechllc.com> wrote in message news:eAl58cn8KHA.5848(a)TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > SBS2008 > > OK I ran the SBS2008 BPA and it reports that Exchange 2007 SP2 is not > installed. From: Richard K on 13 May 2010 07:43 But what the technet article told me to fix in the registry is not what I see in the registry. So I'm not sure what to change now (and who is the culprit for saying a pending reboot is necessary).
