I want to add external storage to my Dell Studio XPS. It has a built-
in eSATA port so the Seagate FreeAgentXTreme is an attractive choice.
However, I would prefer to connect to an array (probably RAID 5) in
order to get fault tolerance. How can I do this? (This computer has
an ExpressCard 34/54 slot if that would be useful.)

Do it over Ethernet. Look at home SAN (Storage Area Network.) 100Mb
is pretty fast and some 1000Mb (GigE), if your machine has it is
first-rate.
