From: Chip on 30 Aug 2007 19:30 I'm trying to install the Server 2003 R2 admin tools, namely the File Server Resource Manager (FSRM) on my server and I'm getting this error: "The version of Windows you have installed does not match the update you are trying to install." I'm positive this has something to do with SP2 for Windows Server 2003 R2. I have a couple other file servers that I installed the FSRM on before upgrading to SP2 and it worked fine (still does). I also know this isn't specific to one server in my environment because I tried to install on two other R2 SP2 servers and got the same error. I did an internet search and found something about running adprep on the domain controller from the R2 SP2 media, but when I run it, the program says the changes have already been applied and it aborts. I also found another site/forum in my search that says the FSRM is not intended to be installed on the server, but instead on an admin workstation running XP. I don't think that's true either, because I've installed it on multiple servers in the past and never had an issue. In fact, in my experience the FSRM ran better on the server directly than on an admin station. Just yesterday I received our MSDN media kit that included the Server 2003 R2 DVD with SP2 slipstreamed in. Same result when I try to install from there. Any ideas? This is my last ditch effort before forking over the $99 to contact PSS. Thanks!
