From: Murray *ACE* on 29 Sep 2007 12:48 I'm afraid you are going to have to disable/remove Norton to see if that's the cause. If you would search these forums here - http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search?q=+group:macromedia.dreamweaver just for "Norton" you will find that it causes a number of problems for DW users.... -- Murray --- ICQ 71997575 Adobe Community Expert (If you *MUST* email me, don't LAUGH when you do so!) ================== http://www.dreamweavermx-templates.com - Template Triage! http://www.projectseven.com/go - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources http://www.dwfaq.com - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources http://www.macromedia.com/support/search/ - Macromedia (MM) Technotes ================== "AwesomeDigital3" <webforumsuser(a)macromedia.com> wrote in message news:fdlpqa$168$1(a)forums.macromedia.com... > Windows XP > Standard Norton
From: AwesomeDigital3 on 29 Sep 2007 13:19 I don't think it is Norton. If I try a whole bunch of file It times out on some Skips a few Works for a few Disconnects/reconnects But if I use the regular FTP with my browser, they always work fine.
From: AwesomeDigital3 on 29 Sep 2007 13:22 Adn I just tried turning it off, and FTP in DW still works sporadically

We've noticed the same problem. FTP activity is off the charts at times. It appears DW can't keep up with file check in/check out status very effectively. Syncronization information may also be a culprit here. As far as FTP vs. firewall settings are concerned, services that are requested from your private network are rarely blocked unless you have done something on your firewall to screen or prevent traffic originating from your LAN from leaving on a certain port. As a test, I installed Macromedia MX 2004 and guess what. No FTP issues at all. Something has definitely changed in the way that DW manages FTP connections. This issue affects both MAC and WIN versions. Adobe needs to do something about it rather than pointing users to a generic troubleshooting guide. I recommend that if you don't need the new features of CS3, and have an older version (not too old) of Macromedia DW, install it and wait for Adobe to fix the issue. By the way - We use the full suite of the Adobe Design/Web products and overall love them. DW was rushed into the bundle and has not been thoroughly reworked and integrated into the Adobe suite. Sounds like rush to market caused the issue. |
