i had a major problem and have retrived my files back form that problem.
all the files have the correct file extenion and name.
but when i attempt to open word trys to convert the file and can't ends up a
boxes.
publisher closes
and access and exel also have difficulty

Did you re-install Office after that major problem?

If that doesn't help, post back with the operating system, version of
Office, and anything you have tried to resolve the issue.
