It's nice that we can filter events we're interested in but can we
filter events out of the log?. Say we have a huge amount of warnings
or errors of a particular kind, say they all have the same enent ID.
Now suppose that these are some logs that even Microsoft says they can
be ignored so basically you're ending up with a log full of events
that you have no interest in and trying to spot those that are
important. On such occasion it would be great if you could filter out
all of those you can ignore so you have a clear view of these you need
to take care of.

Hi,

You can always sort them by Source, Category, Event, Type etc. and
review the ones you need.

While there is a filter in the Event Viewer, in only lets you select the
events you wish to *include*, e.g. by by event number or by type. There is
no facility to suppress particular event numbers. Perhaps Windows Server
2008 has more advanced facilities - if so then you should state that you use
Server 2008 in order to attract version-specific comments.

It's 2003 actually. I don't remember seeing such option in 2008
although I still think it would be quite useful. Thanks
