I was trying out the recommended wifi stumbler
(http://tools.meraki.com/stumbler) but it needs Java which I've had
installed for years on Windows XP SP3.

However, in Firefox 3.6, Tools>>Options>>Content>>Java is MISSING!

There's Tools>>Options>>Content>>JavaScript but no line item for Java (I'm
sure it used to be there before I upgraded to Firefox 3.something).

Where did Tools>>Options>>Content>>Java go?

Firefox 3.5.7 had an obvious "Enable Java" checkbox preference:
Tools=>Options=>Content=>Enable Java

Firefox 3.6 does not:
about:config security.enable_java user set boolean true
Tools=>Add-ons=>Plugins=>Java(TM) Platform SE 6 U11 6.0.110.3

Users with security concerns in Firefox 3.5.7 who disabled Java will have
Java silently enabled by default in Firefox 3.6:

There is no migration path.
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=506985

Firefox 3.6 users must expressly turn off the Java application:
https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+turn+off+Java+applets

Firefox 3.6 supports only NPAPI Java plugins (not OJI/XPCOM/LiveConnect):

How do I test whether Java is working & what version on my computer?
