From: Reno on 18 May 2010 14:11 from downloaded file, in A1 have CS1234567 and want the numbers only, used value(mid(a1,2,7)) and instead of 1234567, it returned formula value(mid(a1,2,7)) . formatted the col for number, and general with same formula returned. Also deleted column then added column with same result.
From: Luke M on 18 May 2010 14:15 Try formatting the cell to something other than text, THEN input the formula. Still not working? Try hitting Ctrl+` (the key to the left of 1) to switch out of formula view mode. -- Best Regards, Luke M "Reno" <Reno(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:46FD0269-503E-4AAD-A713-ACEF4E0C09BE(a)microsoft.com... > from downloaded file, in A1 have CS1234567 and want the numbers only, used > value(mid(a1,2,7)) and instead of 1234567, it returned formula > value(mid(a1,2,7)) . formatted the col for number, and general with same > formula returned. From: Gary''s Student on 18 May 2010 14:27 There are two possible reasons you would seee the formula in a cell rather than the value; 1. The cell was formatted as Text. To fix this, re-format the cell to General and re-endter the formula 2. The Formula Display mode is on. To fix this just touch CNTRL-` -- Gary''s Student - gsnu201003 "Reno" wrote: > from downloaded file, in A1 have CS1234567 and want the numbers only, used > value(mid(a1,2,7)) and instead of 1234567, it returned formula > value(mid(a1,2,7)) . formatted the col for number, and general with same > formula returned.
