Does it give you any indication of what it's trying to update? What happened when you let it update for the new hardware? Have you run any malware, spyware or anti-virus scans lately to make sure your computer is clean? -- JD..

But I will try running Malwarebytes-Anti Malware and my AVG Antivirus. James

Assuming all your hardware is working have a look in device manager and see if *any* device has a yellow exclamation mark... then opt to disable it. I've occasionally had "phantom" devices such as audio components give the problem you've described. In some cases once the phantom device was disabled... it disappeared entirely after the next boot
