From: Mike Williams on 24 Mar 2010 05:42 I know this is not strictly a VB6 question but it does relate to a lot of graphic questions that have been asked and answered here lately so it is sort of partly on topic ;-) Does anybody know if GDI32 hardware acceleration is back in Windows 7 or if it is still disabled as is the case on virtually all Vista installations? Mike

Actually I posted that question without first doing any kind of checking myself (a bit "off the cuff" really and quite "naughty"!) and after rummaging around in Google (something I should have done before posting the question!) it would appear that the answer is "Yes and No" ;-) It seems that in Windows 7 at least some GDI functions are now hardware accelerated again (although I'm not sure whether there are as many as there were before) but that ATI and Nvidia have only recently released suitable drivers which you would probably need to install if your system is not very recent, and which may or may not yet be "up to scratch". I'd still like to know if anyone can shed any more light on this one though? Mike
