From: DaveMills on 26 Feb 2010 01:26 I set up a GPO to set the start of the Automatic Update service to Automatic. As soon as I configure the GPO (in GPEDIT) It prompts for Security and I clicked OK. When applied this caused the security to be set on the target computer such that the service cannot be started. 1) I see now that If I click cancel on the security prompt the setting remains "not configured". Is this the correct way to change a service startup without changing the security settings. 2) How do you "unconfigure" the security in the GPO once it is set to configured. I see no way to do this. 3) How do you set the security on a PC that had the security changed by the first GPO back to its default installed setting so the service will start. Domain is W2003, Client is XP, I have access to W2008 GPO tools if this will let me change the security setting where the GPMC will not. -- Dave Mills There are 10 types of people, those that understand binary and those that don't.
