Back in the old days (and I am VERY old), I used grease pencil on a
plastic sheet to build Gantt Charts, and then moved up to Visicalc on an
Apple II. Those tools are long gone, but a small project I'm trying to
manage right now is getting complicated.

I could put it up on today's Excel, I suppose, but is there an
easy-to-use freeware project management tool?

Thanks!

Easy to use is pretty subjective but if you're used to managing GANTT's,
take a look at

There are others to look at but this is the granddaddy of the
open-source projects so, take a look and let us know.

Thank you, Craig. Was just doing some early-morning browsing in ACF
and saw your post with this jewel. Very much appreciated.

My pleasure. Drop us a follow-up if you end up using one or another.
It's always good to know what a person has found useful.

Hi Lono,

You could look at

OpenProj is a free, open source desktop alternative to Microsoft Project.

http://openproj.org/

Personally, I find these kind of tools very time consuming, and not very
helpful. I use them occasionally, but for knockabout management I prefer
*cough* Microsoft OneNote, post it notes, and lists. There are many
freeware alternatives to OneNote. Craig mentioned a couple he uses to me,
but I've forgotten <help>. They looked quite good.
